Raymond C. "Bud" Masel, age 70, a lifelong resident of the Colorado Springs area passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at a local hospital. He was a sheet metal worker with the Union Local No. 9.
Raymond Carl Masel was born on March 3, 1943 in Colorado Springs to Pete and Thelma (Truman) Masel. He was a 1962 graduate of Palmer High School. Bud loved exotic birds, raised peacocks, and could be found at various auctions and bird club meetings in the area.
Bud will be best remembered for his straightforwardness and honesty.
He is survived by his wife, Melba; his mother, Thelma; his son, Larry Vitzthum; his daughter, Sheryl (Scott) Schilling; and his daughter, Michelle Masel, all of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his two sisters: Patricia Masel of Colorado Springs and Jeanne Beville of Texas. Bud has five grandchildren: Crystal, Holly, Cora, Carl, and Sky. He has one great-granddaughter, Jazzlynn.
A visitation is planned for 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Private entombment will be at the mausoleum's Gate of Heaven.
Memorials in Bud's name may be made to the charity of the giver's choice.
