Adonise Anthony Atencio

Adonise Anthony Atencio, 83, affectionately known as Tony, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Cheyenne Mountain Care Center. He was born May 10, 1929 in Ft. Garland Colorado to the union of Alberto and Jose Martinez Atencio both parents preceded him in death, also two brothers, Guadalupe Walter Atencio, and Evan Atencio. Adonise served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the National Defense Medal, Army Occupation Medal Germany, Good Conduct Medal as well as other numerous awards. Adonise loved to play his guitar, harmonica and accordion, listening to western and Spanish music, walking, and reading his favorite books. He leaves to cherish his memory; his sisters Virginia Acevedo, Minerva Rivera, Ruth Padilla, Mary E. Dyer, brother-in-law Ezra Dyer, special nephew Angelo and Albert Atencio, special friend Michelle Kern and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday, August 21, 2012 Angelus Funeral Directors, 1104 S. Circle Dr. Funeral Services 10:00am Wednesday, August 22, 2012 Angelus Funeral Directors. Interment Ft. Logan National Cemetery Denver Colorado.
