Dixie L. Dailey passed away December 10, 2012 after a 13 year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Dixie was born in Gentry County, Missouri to Carl G. and Iva Hayes. She attended Grandview School and later moved to McFall, Missouri and graduated from McFall High School. She went to Gard's Business School in St. Joseph, Missouri and was employed at the St. Joseph Stock Yard Company as a receptionist and switchboard operator. She lived in the YWCA when the girls were invited to a USO dance at Rosecrans Field where she met her future husband, Richard "Dick" W. Dailey then in the Air National Guard. They were married February 17, 1953 after his discharge from the Air Force. Dixie and Richard moved to Colorado Springs where she was employed at Alexander Film Company and later at Interstate Gas Company as a statistical typist. They had two boys, Stephen Lee and Mark Alan Dailey and she then became a full time homemaker. Dixie served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and became an excellent seamstress making her own clothes, curtains and quilts. She enjoyed making pressed flower pictures and cards and loved square dancing, roller skating and photography. Dixie was very active in the Broadmoor Community Church and served on several committees and was President of the Women's Fellowship. She participated in the Alzheimer's Memories in the Making program where she was honored to have two pictures selected to be in their annual auction. Dixie was preceded in death by her mother and father and is survived by her husband, two sons, a brother Kyle G. Hayes of Pensacola, Florida, nephew Bradly Hayes, wife Ashley of Dayton, Ohio and numerous cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm February 9, at Broadmoor Community Church.
