Floyd E. McMillan

Floyd E. McMillan, age 76, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1972, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2013 at the Farish Recreation Area after an apparent heart attack. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He had retired from the United States Army on March 31, 1975. He served his country proudly for more than 20 years, receiving numerous commendations (including six Bronze Stars) and completing two tours in Vietnam. He then went on in his retirement to work for the U.S. Civil Service at the United States Air Force Academy. Floyd Everett McMillan was born on August 7, 1936 to the late Everett and Mildred (Housden) McMillan. He was a career man in the Army, raised a family, and retired in Colorado Springs. He was married December 5, 1975 in Colorado Springs to Josephine Sanchez. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine; his children: Renee Madron of Hobbs, New Mexico; Terri McMillan of Cleveland, Texas; Donnie (Gwen) Colvin of Hobbs, New Mexico; Barbara (Jay) Bonnie-Webb of Parker, Colorado; Patricia (John) Ciuba of Colorado Springs; and Theresa (David) Bonnie-Geiger of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his brothers: Jerry (Mary Beth) Martin of Napa, California; and Don (Pat) Martin of Tenino, Washington; and his sister, Wilma Garlinghouse of Chahalis, Washington. Floyd has 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 8755 Scarborough Drive. A luncheon reception will follow the services at the church. Nicheside committal services with full Army Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road.
