Gerald E. Eastman

Passed away peacefully on October 19, 2012, at his home in Tampa, Florida, surrounded by his family. He was diagnosed with a rapid lung cancer on September 28th, 2012 which he fought against like the true soldier he was. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Lindgren; brother, Bill Phillips; wife, Dorothy Eastman; sons Gerald Eastman (infant), and Gerry Watkins; and grandsons Alex Smith and Jeremy Smith. He was extremely proud to have served in the United States Air Force for twenty- three years, from which he retired in 1972 as a Master Sergeant. He was very involved in the Colorado Springs area, an active member and Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #309. He was also an active member and former Commander at the VFW Post #4051. "Jerry" was a very generous and kind soul who gave of his money and time to many charities. He will be forever loved and missed by his companion, Gladys, as well as his three daughters, Deborah Van Fleet (Larry), Cynthia Puskar and Janette Smith. He also leaves behind his sister, Sue Ann Phillips, grandsons Nathan Van Fleet and James Smith, granddaughters Nyssa Puskar, Desire Smith and Nikki Smith. No formal service has been planned, as his remains will be brought back to Colorado Springs in the spring, where a full honor memorial service will be held.
