Joyce D. Migliaccio, age 96, a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, died on August 16, 2013, at her home. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Joyce Helendean Duskin was born on November 20, 1916 in Castle Rock, Washington, to the late Bernard S. and Helen C. Duskin. She graduated from high school in Castle Rock, and attended Gray's Harbor Junior College. In 1950, she married I. E. (Jim) Migliaccio (deceased).
For many years Joyce managed Sarkisian's Marco Polo Shop, becoming an expert on oriental rugs, art, and antiques. She was a widow member of the El Paso Club, and a former member of the Broadmoor Golf Club. She was active as a member of the PTA, the Colorado Springs Opera League, and the Colorado Springs Symphony Guild, and with the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her brother, Bernard Duskin (Helen); sister-in-law Carol Migliaccio, sons, Davide (Anne), James (Rhonda), Dino, and Adam (Karen); grandchildren Joya, Carlton, Talor and Lauren; nieces Amy, Conni, and Sally; and nephews Chris, Lance, Rob and Tim.
Private interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at the Patty Jewett Clubhouse, 909 Espanola Street.
Joyce was a life-long music lover, and in her younger days performed on Broadway. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and a strong commitment to her community. She will be greatly missed by her family and by the many who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Broadmoor Court or Pikes Peak Hospice.
