Manny Sigala, 84, of Security, Colorado, passed away on January 23, 2014. He was born January 17, 1930 in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the son of Ramon Sigala and Isidra Gonzales.
In 1947 he joined the Army
and participated in the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze star
Manny got out of the service in 1953 and used his GI bill to enroll in Barber College. After graduation he worked at barber shops at the Air Force Academy and Rocky Ford. In 1960 he purchased Main Barber Shop in Security. Manny was a hard worker that put in many hours to ensure the success of Manny's Main Barber Shop. His Barber Shop was known as the Working Man's Barber Shop as he would open for business at 6AM so people could get haircuts without having to take time off from work. Manny continued to work at the Barber shop until he retired in 2012. He was licensed Barber for over 55 years.
Manny was a member of the DAV, VFW
and Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included golf and going to Cripple Creek.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Sigala, 3 sons: Mike Sigala, Steve Sigala, John Joseph Sigala, and 2 brothers Frank Sigala and Lalo Sigala.
He is survived by 6 children: Ray Sigala, Joe Sigala, Etta Sigala, Rose Thompson, Mario Sigala, and John Sigala. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: David Sigala, Priscilla Garcia. Chris Thompson, Mark Thompson, Steven Thompson, Diego Sigala, Dominic Sigala, Sommer Sigala, and great-granddaughter Rossi Sigala.
He also survived 7 brothers and sisters; Sister Thomasa Sigala, Annie Sigala, Josie Peterson, Connie Hernandez, Tony Sigala, Gilbert Sigala, and Felipa Sigala.
Visitation Tuesday, January 28, 2014 4:00 to 7:00pm at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial January 29, 2014 10:00am St Dominic's Catholic Church with burial at Evergreen to follow.
Manny was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
