Mrs. Mary Ann Burns-Samuel passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on March 23, 2014. Mrs. Burns-Samuel was born January 25, 1939 in Alexandria, La. to the late Yell and Lillian Culverson.
Upon completion of her education, Mary decided to leave Alexandria for better employment opportunities and came to Colorado, where she began her career in insurance. Mary quickly became one of the best in her field, receiving numerous awards and honors in the United States and Germany. She was always willing to help old clients as well as new clients. Mary was affectionately called the "Insurance Lady".
Mary accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and had been a faithful member of St. Johns Baptist Church for the last thirty years.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother and friend, always willing to lend a hand.
She was past Grand Daughter Ruler Columbine Temple #1053, deaconess at St. Johns Baptist Church and a member of TREA.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Marion Samuel, two sons Charles Brown Jr. (Clarinda) of Colorado Springs and Byron Dale Burns of Denver, granddaughter
Na-tascha Glotzbach of Germany (USA) and host of in-laws and friends.
A wake will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 4-7pm at Evergreen Funeral Home located at 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. A homegoing service will be held Friday, March 28th at 1pm at Evergreen Funeral Home.
The Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Elks Lodge
located at 329 E. Cimarron.
