Roy T. Angel

Roy was born on Sept 23, 1927 in Albany, KY and departed this life on June 13, 2009 after battling many years with Chronic Pulmonary Disease. Roy joined the Army Air Corp and later the U.S. Army and served proudly for 21 years. . He loved the military and served at many state-side bases, Japan, Korea, Greenland and Germany and while stationed there in 1952 met the love of his life, Walburga, whom he later married in 1955. He later served another 20 years as a cook in the Cadet Dining Hall at the US Air Force Academy cooking for many classes of cadets over the years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3917. Roy loved his country and proudly flew the American flag each day. His favorite past times were spending a quiet day fishing at many of the beautiful Colorado lakes and shooting pool in several of the local pool leagues where he won many trophies. Roy loved his family and always looked forward to their visits. He was always ready for a game of cards or a friendly game of horseshoes. Roy is survived by his wife, Walburga (Wally) and his three children Paul (Debbie) Angel, Jane (Richard) Halsey and Carol (Tom) Schneeberger; his eight grand-children Jason Angel, Angelia Angel-Light, Amanda Penick, Taylor, Justin and Anna Schneeberger and Todd and Greg Gedemer, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Elvin and Ed Angel and two sisters Grace Feuston and Freda Brummett, all of whom reside in Albany Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Wed. June 17 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m Thursday June 18 at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain CO. Interment will immediately follow service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at Evans Army Hospital, Memorial Hospital and the Security Fire Department who cared for Roy over the past several years.
