Thomas Joseph O'Connell(1930 - 2014)

Thomas (Tom) Joseph O'Connell went to be with our Lord on January 2, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Maryville, MO on February 4, 1930 to Jeremias and Anne O'Connell. Tom served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Gunner's Mate on the USS Winston (AKA-94) from 1951 to 1954. He was married to Louise Ann (Wilmes) on May 8, 1957. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1958.

In Colorado, he worked in construction as a custom finish trim carpenter. He was known for his hard work, patience and willingness to do whatever the client wanted. He was a member of the Colorado Springs Home Builders Association and the BPO Elks Club. He enjoyed visits from his four grandkids and two great-grandsons.

He is survived by his wife; son Curtis O'Connell (Patty); daughter Cynthia Goranson (Larry Patton) Albuquerque, NM; brother Harold O'Connell (Lucy); sister Catherine Lawson (Drexel); granddaughter Nichole Peterson (Ken) Gilbert, AZ; grandsons Ryan O'Connell, Santa Monica, CA, Timothy O'Connell, and Colin O'Connell; great-grandsons Mason Peterson and Carter Peterson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Rose Tobin and his bother Alfred O'Connell.

Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. A vigil will be on Sunday, January 12th at 7:00 PM with a funeral Mass on Monday, January 13th at 10:00 AM. A private burial will take place at Fort Logan Cemetery, Denver, CO at a later date.
