Virginia Edith (Hubbard) Cox

Virginia Edith Cox, age 93, passed away January 19, 2013 in Colorado Springs, CO. Virginia was born on the family farm in Morton County, KS to Viola and Linwood Hubbard. Virginia married Samuel T. Cox, August 30, 1943 in Lamar, CO. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1946. She managed the Colorado House in Manitou Springs for several years. Virginia's career included working for Walter Drake for seven years, and supervising at Hewlett Packard during their manufacturing era for 22 years. As a volunteer, she served on the Board of the Old Colorado City Historical Society, and Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 7226. She was a member of the Manitou Historical Society. She was an active member of the Skyway Southern Baptist Church (formerly) and the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was a member of the church choir and loved singing until the end. Virginia is preceded in death by husband, Samuel Tilman Cox; son, Claude Leroy Cox; six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Ann Dueker of Colorado Springs; four grandchildren, Debilyn Molineaux of Portland, OR, Sean Duffy of Columbia, MO, Shannon Lee Cox, Falcon, CO, Reneé Dillavou of Colorado Springs; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 24 from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors. There will be a funeral service Friday, January 25 1:00p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Old Colorado City Historical Society.
