Herbert Caltrider Obituary

CWO4 Herbert C. Caltrider (US Army, Retired), 82, returned to meet his Savior on November 24, 2006, surrounded by his family and friends in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born February 22, 1924, in Elizabeth, West Virginia, to Carlton and Vivian (Dent) Caltrider who are deceased. Herb was married June 1, 1947, to the former Jean Merrill who survives him in Colorado Springs. Survivors also include a daughter, Dr. Nieca Caltrider; two sons, Rhett and Kim Caltrider; five grandsons, Danton and Trevor Rezos, Kyle, Michael, and Zachary Caltrider; four sisters, Marguerite Mace, Randa Samra, Justine Exline, and Leona Lockhart; and a brother, Wayne Caltrider. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hilda Allen, and a brother, Roger Caltrider. Herb served in the US Army for 30-plus years retiring in 1978 at Ent AFB in Colorado Springs. Herb was a devoted husband, father, and follower of Jesus Christ. He was also an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who enjoyed life to the fullest. Herb will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm today, Sunday, November 26, 2006, at the Mountain View Mortuary Chapel, 2350 Montebello Square Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80918. A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 30, 2006, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs

Uncle Herbert was a favorite uncle of mine. He was always jovial and kind and I will never forget him. My sympathies to his family. May he be at peace in the hands of the Lord.
