Andrew Martinez, 86, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Penrose Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on a farm in Delagua, Colorado, September 25, 1926, he was the son of Guillermo and Eufracia (Abeyta) Martinez. He joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in post-World War II Germany and Europe. After his service in the military, he returned to Colorado where he married Marian Duran, worked as a cook, and then moved to San Diego where he delivered mail for the U.S. post office. After his retirement, he moved to Seeley, California then to Colorado Springs. Andy was talented as a handyman and could play almost any musical instrument by ear. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters Agnes Vigil, Isabel Zavella, Dolores Martinez, brother Joe Martinez and daughter Roberta Diaz. He is survived by his wife Marian Duran Martinez and sister Francis Casias. Also surviving are daughters, Kathy Villalovos, Beverly Martinez, Bernadine Martinez and Marianne Williams (John). His grandchildren are Chris O'Leary (Stella), Tim O'Leary (Mei), Angie Fyre, Ashley Williams, Johnny Williams, Jenny Williams, Michael Martinez, and Kimberly Kinder (Randy). Great grandchildren are Ramona O'Leary, Luke O'Leary, Kristen O'Leary, Andy Kinder and great-great-grandson, Daniel O'Leary Velez. Funeral arrangements are being handled by All Veterans Burial and Cremation.
