Bobby Beverly, Major USAF (ret), passed away surrounded by family on 7 November at the age of 70 in Colorado Springs. After battling Parkinson's for many years, he succumbed to a stroke. He entered this world in Houston, Texas, on September 24, 1942, to Bobby and Johnny Beverly. He began his 20-year Air Force career as a graduate of the USAFA class of '64. He earned a BS in Engineering from USAFA, and later, a MBA from Auburn. His Air Force travels covered the US, Asia, and Europe where he piloted T-33s, T-37s, and RF-4s, amassing 3,600 flying hours. After retiring back to his beloved Colorado, he continued supporting the AF mission as a Senior Systems Engineer and Program Manager with several local defense companies. He found time to give back to his community with two terms on the Lewis Palmer School Board, Director of the local youth soccer organization, an avid backpacker, and AF Falcons season ticket holder. During his time at the Academy, he met his wife of 47 years, Sherry Howard, and later fathered two boys: Chris Beverly, Lt Col (USAF Ret), and Matt Beverly, Maj, USAF, and is furthered survived by two granddaughters Caitlin and Megan, and his brothers Kerry and Rex Beverly. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Monday, November 19 at the USAF Academy Cadet Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to either First Christian Church or the Jeanne Taylor Parkinson's Support Group, Colorado Parkinson's Foundation, 1155 Kelly Johnson Blvd, Suite 111, Colorado Springs, CO 80920.
