Charlie Fairchild Obituary

Charlie F. Fairchild, age 91, a resident of La Junta, Colorado and formerly of Fort Morgan, Trinidad, and Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2013 at his niece's home in La Junta. He was a heavy equipment operator for the state of Colorado and had previously worked at Burlington Northern Railroad. Charlie Finley Fairchild was born on July 26, 1921 in Hasty, Colorado to the late Chauncey and Agnes (Sammons) Fairchild. Charlie joined the Army in his early years and served his country during WWII. He married Elizabeth Marie Ribaudo on February 16, 1946 in Trinidad, Colorado. He was a member of the VFW and Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. He is survived by his two daughters: Gail (husband Lloyd) Rowe of Poudre Canyon, Colorado, and Nancy A. Fairchild of La Junta, Colorado; and his niece, Margaret (husband Warren) Hveem of La Junta. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Charlie Stephen Fairchild in 1988; and a sister, Margaret Gregory in 1992. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
