Edna Mary Jones was born in Glockner Hospital in Colorado Springs on July 22, 1926. Her parents, Harry and Florence Jones, and her sister, Louise, lived on the west side of the Springs on a small ranch. Edna Mary grew up riding her horse, Beauty, in the Garden of the Gods. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School and the University of Denver. She married Paul Bernard, and they had three children, Steven, James, and Alison. Steven is married to Molly Bernard. James has two sons, Zachary and Jacob. Alison and her husband Keith Seyler also have two sons, Nicholas and Alex. Edna Mary's family was her life's work, and it prospered under her loving care. Her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren have grown up to be productive and responsible adults. They are her proud legacy. The circle of Edna Mary's life closed peacefully, where it began, at Penrose Hospital on December 11, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving children. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests a donation in her name to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906, or at www.pikespeakhospice.org.
