MSGT Ethel A Makony, passed away October 24, 2013 at the Country Club Assisted Living.|
Ethel was born December 25, 1915 in Chicago Ill. to Andrew and Mary Makony.
She Graduated from Carter H Harrison Technical High School in Chicago. In March of 1943 Ethel join the WAAC, Women's Army Air Core, and was soon sent to Europe to serve as a member of General Eisenhower's Secretarial pool and eventually in Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. Ethel served our country for 24 years in the US Air Force. Several tours in Europe and the Pentagon here in United States, finally at NORAD in Colorado Springs.
After retirement from the Air Force Ethel enrolled and received a diploma from Blair Business College.
Ethel is known as a special care giver, serving others at Memorial Hospital as a volunteer for 21 years. It was very hard for her to accept care from others in the last few months of her life. She was loved and will be so missed by the many friends she had in her life time.
Ethel's Father Andrew and mother Mary preceded her in death.
Celebration of life will be held at The Springs Funeral Services with viewing and reception 12:30- 1:30 PM with the service beginning at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Memorial service and full military honors following the service. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
