Homer was born the thirteenth child of Albert R. and Theresa H. Boutz in Decatur County, Kansas. He grew up on the family farms in Kansas.

After graduating from Agenda High School in 1958, he joined the Navy and spent four years in service to his country. While staying in Kansas City with his sister, Leona, he met and married Marcia Fletcher in July of 1966. They have lived all their married lives in Colorado. He worked for Hewlett Packard and Ford Micro Electronics as an Electronic Technician.

Homer was active in his church and enjoyed fixing things. He became interested in genealogy and had traced his ancestors to Germany, which he had plans of seeing in May.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Boutz, three brothers; Glenn Boutz (Anita) of Mulvane, KS, Everett Boutz (Bonnie) of Jefferson City, MO, and Darrel Boutz (Dorthea) of Manhattan, KS, and two sisters; Doreen Course of Salina, KS and Flora Edwards of Lewiston, WA. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Arlene Boutz of Concordia, KS, Betty Boutz of Englewood, KS, Mary Smith and Kay Sharp of Raymore, MO, and brothers-in-law David Fletcher of Holtom City, TX. and Eldon Nilson of Alcester, SD.

A Memorial Service will be held on March 2nd at 2:30 pm at the First Christian Church of Colorado Springs, 16 E. Platte Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

Donations can be given to the Memorial Fund of First Christian Church Colorado Springs or the Tennyson Center for Children, 2950 Tennyson St., Denver, CO 80212-3029.
