Jacob Peter Reger passed away shortly before midnight on November 25, 2012. Jake was born in Busch, Arkansas, on October 16, 1938 to George and Ellen Reger. After growing up in Delta, Colorado, he tried college, and then a two year stint in the US Army. After returning to college, Jake met and married his love, Charlene Wiley, in Pasadena, California. It seems that marriage was better for college - Jake ended up with a Bachelor's degree in physics, and a Master's in computer science. He earned the latter from NMSU while working at the White Sands Missile Range - yes, he actually was a rocket scientist. After traveling the nation as a software engineer & college professor, he and Charlene eventually settled in Colorado Springs, where he spent the last 26 years enjoying the mountains. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ellen, and his brother, David. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlene; son Jeff Reger (Elma); daughter Janet Cunningham (Mikey); granddaughter Stephanie Danforth (Nick); grandson Ryan Reger; grandson Chris Reger; brother Alvah Reger (Sandy); brother George Niedens (Nancy); brother Paul Reger (Nancy); sister Mary Kinney; brother Russ Reger (Barbara); sister Marty Hunter (Duane); brother-in-law Ray Wiley (Patty); sister-in-law Barb Niccoli (John); lots of nieces and nephews; even more grand-nieces & grand-nephews; and several grand-puppies. A celebration of Jake's life will be held Saturday, December 8 at 10 am at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 5055 El Camino Dr, Colorado Springs, 80918. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation in Jake's name to Hope & Home, 4945 N 30th Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80919 - also available via janetcunningham.chipin.com.
