Louis Edward (Ed) DuPree of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on November 26, 2009. Ed was born in Independence, MO, on September 8, 1920, but spent most of his formative and adult years in southern Illinois near Fairview Heights, O'Fallon, Caseyville, and Collinsville. Ed was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Kloess) for 58 years, brother of Betty (Ed) Bridges, father of Louis (Brenda), Jeanne (Randall) Stiles, and Laura (Erik) Klein, grandfather of Erin (Gregg) Gardiner, Jennifer DuPree, Kelly DuPree, Devin (Danelle) DuPree, Eric (Silke) Stiles, Andrea (Carlos) Pullas, and Abigail Klein, and great-grandfather of Nicolas and Sophia Pullas and Julian and Adrian Stiles. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth. Ed attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale before serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a retired former yardmaster for the Wabash and Norfolk and Western Railroads. He and his wife Dorothy were very active in United Methodist Churches in Caseyville and Collinsville, Ill. After moving to Colorado Springs, in 2003, Ed became a member of Sunrise United Methodist. Over the years Ed enjoyed fishing, golf, reading, word puzzles, teaching Bible study, home construction and remodeling, watching baseball, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals and visiting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed's family was always most important to him. A Memorial Service will be held at Viewpointe Assisted Living facility, at 555 S. Rockrimmon Blvd., on Wednesday, December 2nd, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be sent to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care.
