Born in Great Bend, KS to Frank and Cora Asher; a resident of Colorado Springs since 1965. Loyd was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and hike in the mountains. He retired from a teaching career in math and industrial arts, sold real estate, land property and enjoyed farming in Rush County. He regularly attended the symphony and had a lifelong passion for jazz bands and basketball. He was an active member of Broadmoor Community Church and the Elks Club. Loyd married his sweetheart of 56 years on November 23, 1952 and graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1954. In addition to Velda Asher, his wife, Loyd is survived by his 2 children, Cyndi Harper and David Asher; 9 grandkids and 3 great grandkids; his brother Carl Asher; his sisters Ruby Phillips and Esther Moeller. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 5th, 6pm at Dove-Witt Fountain Valley Chapel, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain, CO. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Dec. 6th, 11am at Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Ave. Friends and family are welcome to a reception at his daughter's home after the service.
