Sammie Engle, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 20, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Hardburly, Kentucky, March 31, 1933 to the late Adam and Lettielee Engle.
Sammie entered the United States Army in 1953 and served for thirty years in the Field Artillery, retiring in 1983 from Fort Carson, Colorado as a Command Sergeant Major. During his career, Sammie served numerous overseas tours, to include Viet Nam from 1968 to 1969.
Included in his service awards are the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Legion of Merit.
Sammie leaves behind to cherish his memory, devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Engle; loving children, Samuel G. Engle, Brenda S. Spade, and Barbara A. Dunn (Raymond H. Dunn), all of Colorado Springs; precious grandchildren, Jason Spade, Nicholas Dunn (Lyndsay), Christopher Dunn (Jennifer); and great-grandchildren Amelia, Peighton, Aleigha, and Hayleigh.
Private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.

Mary,so sorry for your loss.I just read of Sammie's passing.Sammie and I are cousins.I am the daughter of Artie Wynn.Adam Engle was her brother.Sammie and my brother Joe look so much alike.Joe is a Vietnam veteran and bedridden at this time.My prayers for the family.Barbara Mcgaha
