Sunny Kaye Carlson, 68, passed away at her home in Pueblo, Colo., on Dec. 14, 2012. Survived by daughters, Shay Rene Wallace, Karen Marie Barcus; grandchildren, Cayman Marie Wallace, Bennett Lee Wallace; brothers, C.O. Marricle, Mark Marricle; sisters, Jody Marricle, Toddy Neill, Missy Mitro; foster son, Thomas Kleiwer; and their spouses and children. Preceded in death by grandparents, Josie and Hugh Bennett, Irma and Clell Marricle; mother, Flora Lee Marshall; father, Marcus "Dude" Marricle; and brother, Hardy Marricle. Sunny attended college in Minot, N. D., and finished her bachelor degree at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. She started her teaching career at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs while she continued her studies and earned two Masters Degrees in counseling. Sunny taught at the Colorado State Hospital in Pueblo for many years. Sunny also taught at Zebulon Pike, Spring Creek, and YOS before retiring. She was a foster parent to many at-risk youth throughout the years. After her retirement, Sunny continued to substitute at YOS and El Pueblo Boys & Girls Ranch. Sunny enjoyed traveling and sharing her many experiences with family and friends. She was always available for everyone whose life she touched with unconditional love and support. She enjoyed watching reality TV with her many Dachshunds who were the love of her life. Sunny's eternal spirit will shine through her daughters, Shay Wallace, Karen Barcus and grandchildren, Cayman and Bennett Wallace. The family will host a remembrance memorial for Sunny after the New Year.
