Susan Lyn (Morrison) Giani, age 39, departed this life as the result of a sledding accident near her home in Sterling, Alaska on Jan 12, 2013. She is survived by her husband Chris (Sterling, Alaska), parents Tom and Nancy Morrison of Pueblo, brothers David (Caldwell, Idaho) and Eric (Denver), a large extended family, in-laws, and friends from everywhere. Susan was born in Clovis, New Mexico on Aug 8, 1973, and grew up in Colorado Springs. She graduated from Doherty High School in 1991, and received degrees in Environmental Science and Geography, and Psychology at UCCS at Colorado Springs. She was an adventurous spirit who loved nature. She worked as a white water rafting guide for Peterson AFB, and after moving to Alaska in 2004, became a bear-viewing guide. Later, she became a bereavement coordinator for Hospice of the Central Peninsula (Alaska). Recently, she was a financial advisor for Country Financial of Soldotna, Alaska, and was to be honored in February in Seattle as Rookie of the Year for her successful hard work.
