Our Mother, née Suzanne Marie Brunclair, left us quietly in her home on December 26, 2012. Suzanne was born in Antwerp, Belgium on April 21, 1925. In the closing days of WWII in Belgium, she met our father, Denver (Jack) Cockerham. She was wed and emigrated to the United States with him and their three sons who were born in Germany (Michael Roger, Patrick Thomas, Phillip Allen). A fourth was born later in Colorado Springs (Paul Timothy) where our father retired from the US Army. Suzanne spent the next 56 years in Colorado Springs, being mom, working long days and many jobs to keep home and hearth, dedicating herself to her sons through difficult times. Suzanne had the distinction of being the first woman Union Printer in Colorado Springs. She was proud to become a US Citizen, and was a supporter of the Democratic Party and precinct judge for many elections. She was involved for many years in the Catholic Church at Divine Redeemer and sang in the choir. After her print shop was lost in a fire, she gave of herself by being a caregiver for elderly people not much older than she. Of her immediate family in Belgium, her youngest brother remains, Sylvain Brunclair. It is a Blessing that she now has Peace. We will miss our Mother deeply. A Memorial Service will be held for Suzanne at 1:00PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Ave. Colorado Springs.
