Wanda Lea Russell

Wanda Lea Russell, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO.

She was born February 16,1924 on a ranch in Kit Carson, CO to Clifford and Margaret Paulson. Wanda married Louis Russell, November 27,1942 in Alamogordo, NM.

Wanda worked for many years as an electronics technician for Hewitt Packard, Kaman Sciences and Digital. She was employee #7 when Hewitt Packard first opened in Colorado Springs. She loved and took great pride in her work. Wanda was a lively, free spirit, who enjoyed her family, bowling, fishing, traveling, Cripple Creek and her Broncos. She was a generous and loyal friend. She could be ornery and sweet - all at the same time - such a character!

Wanda is survived by two sisters, Jane Cook of Richland, WA and Kay Moxon of Arvada, CO; three sons, Craig Russell and Kirk Russell, both of Payson, AZ and Wayne Russell of North Pole, AK; two daughters, Lou Ann (Steve) Neifert of Colorado Springs, CO, and Pat Russell of Penrose, CO; her 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Marita Sawyers and Mary Lou Johnson.

Wanda spent the last three years of her life at The Union Printers Home. We wish to thank the entire staff for the excellent loving care she received.

As part of her giving spirit, Wanda has given the ultimate gift by making a whole body donation to Science Care, so that others may benefit through medical research and training.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Elks Lodge, 3400 N. Nevada, in Colorado Springs.
