Sammy Vandell Bush, 61, long-time resident of Security, Colorado, after a prolong illness went home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2014 with his family by his side. Sam was born September 21, 1952 in Amarillo, Texas to the union of Vernon and Sherline (Nichols) Bush who both preceded him in death.

Sam graduated from Manual High School, Denver, Colorado in 1970. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his Honorable Discharge from military service he settled in Security and retired as a CNC Machinist.
During his life, Sam was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and camping with family and friends. He also treasured going on long motorcycle rides with friends, his wife or just by himself. With his passion for the outdoors, Sam passed on his infinite knowledge, wisdom and love of nature to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Additionally, Sam enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, always enthusiastically cheering them on from the sidelines. We know he will continue to watch over them.
The loved ones he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife Betty Vigil Bush, children Kolyn Pettiford and husband Isaac Crawford, Brian Sanchez, Monica Sanchez, Daniel Bush and Adam Bush; sisters Sheila Ashley, Nickye Love, Lisa Townsend, Tanya Babbs and husband Alfred, and Alison Love; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 followed by Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors located at 1104 S. Circle Dr., Colorado Springs, CO.
