Margaret Lucille (Beck) Zimmerman was called home to be with the Lord on March 20th, 2014. Margaret was born February 11th, 1925 in Easton Township, Marathon County, Wisconsin to Arthur and Selma (Hackbarth) Beck. The daughter of a dairy farmer, she graduated from Wausau Senior High School in 1942. On March 17th, 1943 she married the boy from the farm next door, Lt. Albert Charles Zimmerman to whom she remained married to for 67 years until his death in 2009.

Together they had and are survived by four children, Daughters Margaret Lynn (Henry David) Vinson of Albany, Georgia; Jane Ellen Zimmerman of Woodland Park, Colorado; Sons Lt. Col (Ret.) Charles Albert (Jody) Zimmerman of Montrose, Colorado; Mark Arthur (Janet) Zimmerman of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Margaret is also survived by her seven grandchildren, James Ruhland of Lubbock, Texas; Rev. David (Stacy) Hall of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Laurel (Eren) Sitki of Farmington, Utah; Jean Ruhland of Los Angeles, California; Sam (Trisha) Zimmerman of Apache Junction, Arizona; Jacob (Daphnye) Zimmerman of Fort Collins, Colorado and Anne (Rodney) Pierson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Margaret also has 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Beck and a sister, Gretchen Wurster, both of Wisconsin.
After spending her life as a military wife traveling and living across the world and country, Albert and Margaret settled in Colorado Springs in 1968. Margaret work for many years selling real estate for Walker and Company and remained active in her church, Holy Cross Lutheran.. She loved to read, sew, and "run away from home." She never gave up on her quest for knowledge. Margaret had a servant's heart and had a gift for hospitality. She will be dearly missed by those that know and love her.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, March 27th, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 4125 Constitution Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 with a reception to follow. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
