May 26, 1935 - March 2, 2008. Venon R. "Rudy" Coots, 72, passed away on March 2, 2008 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born May 26, 1935 in Linefort, Kentucky to Joseph and Ida (Holcomb) Coots, who preceded him in death. Rudy was one of twelve children. Rudy joined the U.S. Army in 1952. He was proud to have served in the Army for 26 years. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received numerous awards due to his dedicated and loyal service. After retirement he worked for ITT and Civil Service at Fort Carson continuing his career as an Electronics Engineer. Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Meredith Coots; three sons, Gary (Susan) Coots; Gregory Coots all of Colorado Springs; Dr. Michael (Gwyn) Coots of Pueblo; granddaughter, Stephanie Coots of Colorado Springs and grandson, Gregory Coots II of Colorado Springs; five sisters, Gertrude, Gladys, Dolores, Mary and Doris; and three brothers, Don, Jerry and Herman. He was preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Herbert and Aster. Among the hobbies and activities he enjoyed were fishing and being outdoors. But his most favorite thing on earth was spending time with his grandson, Gregory who he called "his little buddy". Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A private burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
