Beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, Gerda Buhrmann-Haley died on March 9, 2010 after courageously battling cancer for over a year. Gerda was born October 20, 1962 in The Netherlands and moved to Colorado Springs in 1991 and became the General Manager for The Olive Branch restaurant. She then started her own business providing bookkeeping and office management services for small business. Her clients adored her. What kept this travel-loving adventuress grounded in the Springs was meeting and marrying the man of her dreams, Carl Haley in 1997. She and Carl lived the good life, traveling frequently, hiking and biking throughout the country and creating a vast social network of people who loved spending time with them. She is preceded in death by her father, Father Gerardus Buhrmann, and her sister; Marianne Plooster-Burhmann; and is survived by her husband, Carl Haley; mother, Anneliese Burhrmann-Heyne of the Netherlands; sister, Anneliese; brother-in-law, Craig and nephew, Jerry Kemper of Colorado Springs and two nieces, Linda and Chantal Plooster in the Netherlands. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, March 17th at 3:00 pm at Venue 515, 515 Manitou Springs Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to: LMSarcoma Direct Research Foundation 2758 E. 44th Place Tulsa, OK 74105 www.Imsdr.org OR TelecomPioneers 930 15th Street 12th Floor Denver, CO 80202 www.Pioneersvolunteer.org.
