Timothy L. Van Tongeren, of Colorado Springs, CO went home to be with his Lord Jesus, early Thursday morning, May 13, 2010 at University Hospital in Denver following complications from heart surgery. Tim was born on July 2, 1975 in Arcadia, CA, the son of Ron and Marge (Pouwels) Van Tongeren. He graduated from Temple City High School (CA) in 1993, received his BA in Communication from University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 2001, and Masters of Communication (UCCS) in 2006. On July 27, 1996, he was united in marriage to Jeni L. Bruns in Colorado Springs, CO. Over the years, Tim has touched the hearts of many people and has been involved in numerous organizations. He was employed as a Software Developer at Verizon for more than 12 years. Tim was a dedicated member of Vanguard Church, where he was part of a men's small group, as well as a committed teacher of various discipleship and Bible study groups. His deepest joy was time spent with family and friends. In addition to his wife, Jeni, he is survived by son Blake (5), daughter Logan (3), and son Dekker (10 months); parents Ron and Marge, all of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Caroline (J.P.) Mertens, and their three daughters, of Grand Junction, CO; one brother, Daryl (Sara) Van Tongeren, of Richmond, VA; along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and other extended family. A service and reception to celebrate Tim's life will be held Friday, May 21 at 6:00pm, at Vanguard Church in Colorado Springs, CO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund that has been established for Tim's wife and children through Ent Federal Credit Union. Donations should be made to the "Tim Van Tongeren Memorial Fund" and sent to Ent, P.O. Box 15819, Colorado Springs, CO 80935.
