Margaret Lynn "Peg" Helling passed away on June 8, 2010, after a valiant two year battle with cancer. Born in Pasadena, CA, on May 2, 1926 to E.L. Lynn and Margaret Donahue Lynn, Peg moved to Santa Monica at an early age where she attended public schools through high school, graduating as Senior Class President in 1944. Peg enrolled at the University of Southern California and pledged Delta Gamma Sorority. In 1948, she graduated with a major in Marketing and was employed as Executive Trainee for May Company Department Stores. Peg married William Helling of Anaheim in 1948 and their marriage was blessed by the birth of three children. In 1960 the family moved to Colorado Springs where Peg became active with The Delta Gamma Alums at Colorado College; helping to organize visual screening for all pre-school children in Colorado Springs for many years. In 1966, she purchased the Yarn Barn on Nevada Avenue, a venture which grew into a second store on the east side. Her reputation in the National Needlework Association was highly regarded and she was well known in the yarn industry. Peg retired in 1990. She loved a good game of bridge & played regularly with several groups. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, her three children, William Helling, Jr. of Germany, Jan Helling Croteau of Wolfeboro, NH, David Helling of Santa Fe, NM and 7 grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved her. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice in Peg Helling's name.
