William H. Bellamy, beloved husband of Eleanor and proud father of Michael Russell, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Born in Dallas in 1928 to Dr. Russell Bellamy and the former Daisy Stumpf. Bill grew up in Pampa, Texas where his father practiced family medicine for 50 years. Bill left Pampa to work on Wall Street, New York City. It was there he met his wife a native New Yorker, and they settled in Westchester County. Following his interest in politics, Bill ran for a seat in the Westchester County Legislature. The picture with this article appeared in the New York Times in 1968, the year he ran for office. After his years at a large brokerage firm, he became an individual stock trader and remained active until shortly before his death. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, his son Michael, his daughter-in-law Maggie, a grandson, two nieces and a nephew. His sister Mary predeceased him in 2000. Bill, his wife and son moved to Colorado Springs in 1987. He became active in the Mercedes-Benz Club of America and served as treasurer for several years. He was also a member of the American Legion, having served honorably in the United States Air Force for four years. He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus and the Amateur Radio Association. Daisy Bellamy made the definitive statement about her beloved son; â€œBill is a gentleman at all times.â€ Indeed, he was. Visitation will be Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Burial immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado.
