I found a basketball drills book that at one time was owned by coach Virgil L. Robertson. I think he gave the book to my dad, Tom Moll, in the mid 70s. Pretty cool!! It has coach Virgils autograph and coaching notes in the margins throughout. I tried to upload some pictures but was unsuccessful. I feel very lucky to have this book in my possession, unfortunately I did not know of this book before my father passed away in 2009, or I would have asked him about it. Sincerely, William (Bill) moll

Coach was one of the three most respected men in my life. He taught me to do the right things, the right way, for the right reasons.
You made a difference.

I was saddened to hear of Coach Virgil Robertson's passing. He started me as a sophomore Point guard on the Varsity basketball team. He believed in me and gave me an opportunity to play a game that has had a continual impact on my life. Over the course of many hours during those three years there were postive and negative things as in any relationship. We tested each other, I am sure. But at the end of the day, Coach Robertson believed in each one of us. He invested in our lives. He led us in competition and he shared the joy of our success. He led our Sierra High 1975 basketball team to a number 2 ranking in 4A CIF. We won the Whitmont league title. I look back on our time on the basketball court fondly. I am thankful for the hours he invested with me and my friends at Sierra High School. I can still picture him on the basketball court showing us how to play defense and running drills. He always was impeccably dressed for each game[coat and tie]. I still have his play book and diagrams of our offense and defense. He loved coaching. Kay, I remember you fondly. My condolences. Pat, I remember you fondly and my condolences to you. God bless and keep Virgil Robertson.

What a great picture. I have not seen coach in over 25+ years and this is exactly how i remember him.
Coach Robertson was a special human being. He supplied me with so many great memories and was a part of creating everlasting friendships with my teamates. He taught us to believe in ourselves and to be prepared in whatever task we tackled. Thank you Coach i will always remember with a smile all of the practices, games, lectures, and lessons you blessed me with. God Bless you

There were only a few teachers that really made a difference, and even fewer who impacted our lives. He was one of them. You were a great man coach and we all knew it. God Speed

I wasn't the basketball player and close friend to Coach Robertson as my brother Steve was but my family has such wonderful memories of the years he coached Steve at Sierra High School. Kay, I remember you from all the times I spent hanging in the Administration office with my friend Rexanna. I send condolences from my parents. God Bless your family during this difficult time. He was a great man and mentor.

At times it seems like yesterday you were teaching and pushing me to become a better basketball player. But more importantly, you taught me how to become a better man. Although we enjoyed a great deal of success on the basketball court, I will always be thankful for the coach/teacher who took the time to help and prepare this student athlete for the world ahead of him. You made me think about my future before I even knew to think about it.

So I just wanted to thank you for going the extra mile and taking an interest in me and being a very influential person in my life.

I had not kept in touch with Coach Robertson. I don't recall seeing him since graduating high school. I did not do sufficient reverence nor honor to the significance he has held in my life. I have acknowledged to myself over the years that there is no achievement I have made for which he rightly shares or deserves all credit. Thanks Coach for teaching me so much, thanks for being my friend and mentor, and thanks for a thousand other things.

Coach Robertson was not just my high school baasketball coach but remained one of my closet friends for 46 yrs.He taught us not only the game of basketball but taught each of us life lessons which let us become men of honor and integrity. To be respectful and to never give up no matter what life situations came our way. Thank you "Coach" for your friendship. I love you, Jack
