Roy was a good student and a caring person. The day that his father took him to Phil Long Ford, at the age of 17, was one of his greatest days. He had graduated and received a full time job. When they got there, his dad told him to pick out a new mustang. He signed for it and then Roy made the payments. Most importantly, it was all over for Roy when his wife asked him on a date! They spent 38 years together. Roy had a wonderful relationship with his sister, Charlotte. They were the best of friends. He made many trips with her and his mother to Kansas to give his love and support to his Aunt Tillie and family. He was very tender-hearted towards others's needs, and he even played Santa Claus to make the little ones happy! Roy retired from Colorado Springs Utilities in 2001 after 30 years of service. He was a Senior Field engineer, as well as a historian. Roy loved his cars. He had everything from a 1911 Model T to the newest models of today. Loved Ones survived, include: wife and guardian angel, Sylvia Jane Edwards; mother, Elsie Edwards; sister, Charlotte Akmenkalns; daughter, Sherri O'Brien; and sons, James L. Grant, Shannon D. Grant and Jason L. Grant. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar L. Edwards; brothers, Joseph E. Edwards and David L. Edwards; baby sister, Mary Katheryn Edwards; and niece, Anita Akmenkalns. A Celebration of life will take place at Abundant Hope, 41 North Iowa on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Pikes Peak Hospice and/or Abundant Hope Nazarene Food Pantry.
