Bernadine Martinez, beloved daughter, sister and aunt, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at her home in Colorado Springs. A Colorado Springs native, she was the middle child of five sisters. She grew up in San Diego, California from the age of three. After graduating from Morse High School in 1971, she returned to Colorado Springs and worked as a bank clerk. She later returned to San Diego but eventually settled back in Colorado Springs until her death. Bernadine was the daughter of Andrew Martinez, who preceded her in death on December 9, 2012, and Marian Duran Martinez. She has three surviving sisters, Kathy Villalovos, Beverly Martinez, Marianne Williams (John), and was preceded in death by sister, Roberta Diaz. She has thirteen nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Bernadine played the accordion and piano. She loved painting, coloring, and putting together puzzles with her nieces and nephews. Bernadine was a wise, humorous, sweet, and loving person. She will be missed by her family and friends. A service for Bernadine was held at Chapel of Memories and a celebration of her life followed at her home.
