Our beloved "Karaoke Cowboy" passed away on Tuesday at the age of 78. Ken was born in Paden, OK to Paul and Vera Gilbert who predeceased him. Ken proudly served in the USAF as well as the Wichita Police Department and the Sedgewick County Sheriff's Office. After leaving the military he returned to retailing. He had lived in Wichita, KS in the 1960's, moved to Colorado Springs in 1969 and returned to Wichita in 1991. Ken recently returned to Colorado to be closer to his family. Some of his hobbies were painting, writing poetry and he loved to sing Karaoke with his many friends. He also played the steel guitar. He was married to Glenda Alger in 1956. She preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived by siblings Laddie (Kay) Gilbert and Ruby (Wayne) Rath, children Rhonda (Terry) Fleming, Paula (Dave) Munroe, Tammy (Roger) Jones, Kevin (Tammie) Gilbert, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service 1:00 p.m. February 15, 2013 at Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 E. Fillmore. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The .
