Charles Nicholas Allen, sixty-seven, of Colorado Springs passed away on Wednesday, February 20th. Charles spent twenty-one years in the army, in which time he was awarded The Army Commendation Medal, The Army Commendation Medal: First Oak Leaf Cluster, and The Army Commendation Medal: Second Oak Leaf Cluster, and was a member of the Sergeant Morales Club. Charles served two terms in Vietnam Nam where he was awarded The Bronze Star Medal. After his honorable discharge from the military, he became an owner operator truck driver and recently retired after twenty-five years of over three million miles of distinguished safe driving, and receiving the AMSA Super Van Operator Award in Special Commodities. Charles is survived by: wife of forty-six years, Heide Allen; granddaughter, Tatianna Allen; two brothers, Ashley Allen and John Allen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Elsa Sheets; ten nieces and nephews, and twenty great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial services will be held at Temple Shalom, 1523 E Monument St, Colorado Springs, CO 80909, Thursday, February 28th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Temple Shalom.
