Kenneth John McGowan, 89, passed away on May 10, 2013. He was born on March 26, 1924 to Thomas and Rebecca (Roche) McGowan and grew up in Staten Island, NY. He attended gunsmith school and worked in sporting goods and gunsmithing from 1945 to 1951. He was an expert marksman winning numerous medals, plaques and trophies for his skills. Ken moved to Colorado Springs in 1951 where he met his wife Nancy at Alexander Film Co. They married on November 10, 1951 and were married 50 years before Nancy passed away on August 8, 2006. Ken spent over 40 years in banking, mortgage lending and real estate sales, retiring in 1985. He was a long time member of Kiwanis . He was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church and taught the new members class for several years. Ken was a loving husband, father and grandfather and an excellent and Godly role model for his children and grandchildren and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his children Molly McWilliams, Mike (Laurel) McGowan, Jenny (John) Mauro along with seven grandchildren; Gregory, Jeffrey and Daniel McWilliams, Margaret and Rebekah McGowan; and Rachel and Hannah Mauro. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers, William, Vincent, Thomas and Raymond and sister Mae Hemmes.
