Hollice R Funkhouser Obituary
Mrs. Hollice R. Funkhouser, a resident of Colorado Springs for 30 years, died on October 20th, 2013 at the Hunt Community in Nashua, New Hampshire.

She was born in Leander, Texas on December 4th, 1919 to Reinhard (Robert) and Lena (Whitten) Rummel. She graduated from the University of Texas and taught in the Corpus Christi School system from 1941 to 1943. She was married June 12, 1943 in La Jolla, California, to Hugh Funkhouser, Jr., who predeceased her. Her daughter, Susan Davenport, also predeceased her. She is survived by her son Douglas Funkhouser, his wife Beth, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Sue Rummel, of Austin, Texas.

Hollice was active for many years in the American Association of University Women (AAUW), League of Women Voters, Welcome Wagon, and several book and bridge clubs.

She gave to her daughter Susan a great sense of style (Hollice was named one of the ten Best-Dressed Women in El Paso, Texas in the 1960s). She gave to her son a love of reading and language.

SERVICES: A private memorial service will be planned at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hunt Community for their compassionate care particularly in the final weeks of Hollice's life.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903, or to AAUW Educational Foundation, 1111 Sixteenth NW, Washington, D.C. 20036-4873.
