Rev. Philip Green, 99, died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness.

He will be honored at a memorial service on March 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 2040 N. Nevada, Colorado Springs where he was a former pastor.
He was an active ordained minister for 77 years. Well known in the community, he was one of the main faces of the church where he served as interim senior pastor, the minister of evangelism and founder of the adult Duo Class. He was honored to be named Associate Minister Emeritus.
He is survived by his three children, Marcia Thompson, Rev. Dr. Philip Green Jr, and Miriam Salimi. He was the patriarch of five generations leaving 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Philip served as a chaplain in the United States Air Force for 20 years including an assignment at the Air Force Academy. He was active in the Military Chaplains Association, serving as national president for two terms. He was a member of Rotary Club of Colorado Springs and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a one time member of Toastmasters. He authored several books, the last of which was "Much Alive at 95." He was a story teller majoring in humor. He shared his life with so many others through the years and he lived his life with a smile.
