CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - Barbara Mazza Karwowski, 69, of LaCosta Drive, Clifton Park, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at home after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Born Aug. 15, 1943, in Northampton, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Helen Mazza.
Barb was a graduate of St. Michael's High School and Northampton Community College, both of Northampton, Mass.
Barb was a senior lab technician for the New York State Department of Health in Albany for 31 years. While working, she was a former secretary and treasurer for the Civil Service Employees Association local in Albany and was active in the American Association of Retired Persons local of Shenandoah.
Barb was a member of the Women of the Moose
and the Vegan Societies of Albany, Mid-Hudson and the Berkshires, and the Birchkill Arts and Crafts club of Troy.
She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years Lou M. Karwowski; two brothers, Gerald Mazza and his wife Cheryl of New Hampshire and Larry Mazza and his wife Joanne of Cobleskill; along with niece and nephew Luke and Julia.
Barbara was also predeceased by her brother, Steven Mazza in 2007.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St., Mechanicville, on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. A funeral and burial service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, 12866 in memory of Barbara Mazza Karwowski.
