EASTHAMPTON - Celia (Parzych) Golash, 90, of Easthampton, passed away Feb. 12, 2013, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton.
She was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Easthampton and was the daughter of the late Francis and Theophila Tillie (Parda) Parzych.
She attended Sacred Heart School and Easthampton High School.
She was previously employed at McCallum's Hosiery in Northampton, Savage Arms in Chicopee Falls and retired from the former Tryco Venders in Easthampton. She continued to work as a homemaker for Highland Valley and also substituted at local school cafeterias, where she loved interacting with children and had the nickname "Sunshine". She also worked a number of years at Lesnows Manufacturing.
She was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in Easthampton and was a group leader for their Girl Scouts. She was a member of Holy Rosary Sodality and a member of the former St. Anne Society. She enjoyed making polish food, her New City neighborhood, and always looked forward to the Polish picnic.
She was predeceased by her husband Stephen Golash in 1984, her brothers, Walter, Chester and Stanley and one sister Stacia Adamski.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen J. and his wife Susan Golash of Hatfield and David Golash and his wife Debra of Lumberport, W.V.; four grandchildren, William, Corinne, Cassandra and Alexander; one great-granddaughter Aubrianna; a sister-in-law Laurie Parzych of Easthampton; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 16, at 9 a.m. from the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Easthampton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Parish and burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, all of Easthampton.
