Christine M. (Labato) Mazur

NORTHAMPTON-Christine M. Mazur, 94, formerly of 53 North St. in Northampton passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at Calvin Coolidge Nursing & Rehab.

Christine was born in Northampton on Nov. 24, 1917 the daughter of the late James and Anna (Maggioliono) Labato. A lifelong native of the city, she was educated in local schools and graduated from Northampton High School.

Christine owned and operated her own Hairdressing Salon until her son arrived. She devoted herself to being a full time mother and homemaker, raising and caring for her family. She was known for her love of cooking and especially the baking of fabulous desserts.

She was a communicant and had worshipped at the former St. Mary's Church. She was predeceased by her husband, John S. Mazur in 1991 and her siblings, Tony, Frank and Paul Labato.

She leaves her son, John Mazur and his wife Irene of Northampton and Florida; her loving grandchildren, John Mazur of Rhode Island and Andrea Bibeau of Texas; her great grandchildren, Max, Calvin and Eli Bibeau of Texas and John Thomas Mazur of Rhode Island and her devoted sister, Lucy Meehan of Florence as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton will be on Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 am. followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, Beacon St., Florence. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton.
