EASTHAMPTON - Donald Anthony Mastrangelo, 76, of Gross Lane, died at his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1936, in Springfield, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Ercilia (Calli) Mastrangelo.
Donny was the owner of Donny's Café, a popular bar and restaurant in Springfield for over 50 years. He was also part owner of Cara Mias on Columbus Avenue in Springfield. He was a member of the Springfield Bar Owner's Association and a member of the Hampden County Deputy Sheriffs Association. Donny was a member of the Boys Club since he was five years old and a lifetime member of the Elks. An avid golfer, he was a member of Elmcrest Country Club.
He loved singing, being with his family and spending time on his boat in Florida where he wintered.
Donny leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years Nancy (Prosciak) Mastrangelo; Christina (Mastrangelo) Novak (Benjamin Novak, deceased) of Springfield, Norma (Mastrangelo) Bassett (Louis Bassett, deceased) of Florida, Vincent Mastrangelo (April) of East Longmeadow, Richard Mastrangelo (Rose) of Springfield, Diana Turowski (Ren) of Agawam, sister-in-law, Carol Prosciak of Easthampton; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Easthampton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
