HADLEY - Dorothy J. Leahey, 80, of Mount Warner Road, Hadley, died Thursday at the Calvin Coolidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northampton.
She was born March 21, 1932, in Hatfield, the daughter of Alfred and Wanda Rogaleski LaMountain.
Dorothy was educated in schools in Hatfield and Whatley, and was a 1950 graduate of Northampton High School.
She worked at the University of Massachusetts as a secretary in the agricultural and economics department from 1950 until retiring in 1989. She had made her home in Amherst until 1964, when she moved to Hadley.
She was a member of the Whatley Grange, which she joined in 1946. She was a member of the Holy Reedmer Church, formerly St. John's Catholic Church in Hadley.
She leaves her husband, Thomas M. Leahey, whom she married on Oct. 30, 1954. She also leaves two brothers, Alfred LaMountain and his wife Lillian of Sunderland and James Robert Burke and his wife Judy of Milford; two sisters, Patricia Naple and her husband Louis of Worcester and Jeanne Burke of Palm Springs, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Dorothy Leahey will be held Monday, Jan. 21 at 9:15 a.m. from the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee, celebrated by Father William Murphy of St. Peter's Church in Great Barrington. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home.
