FLORENCE - Elizabeth H. Dibrindisi, 74, of Florence, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, surrounded by her family after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born March 31, 1939, in Northampton, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Morse) Burke of Florence.
She graduated from Northampton High School in 1956 and then attended the University of Massachusetts School of Nursing.
She worked as a clerk at State Street Fruit Store for more than 32 years until her illness forced her into retirement.
Liz loved to read, bake and spend summers at York Beach, Maine. She was a member of the Florence Congregational Church for over 50 years and was an active member of several committees.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mike, and their three sons, Michael and wife Trish, granddaughters Alexandra and Arianna; Joel and grandsons Jonathan, Jacob, Joshua and his partner Afton and great-grandson Jase; Eric and wife Sue and grandson Matthew. She is also survived by her aunts, Helen Stone and Barbara Smart; several nieces, nephews and many, many dear friends.
Liz's family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who provided her with care and comfort throughout her illness.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery Monday, April 29, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Florence Congregational Church.
