NORTHAMPTON - Frederick P. Lima, Jr, 93, of Pine Brook Curve, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
Born Aug. 9, 1920, in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Frederick and Rose Ida (Kadoza) Lima. He attended high school in New Bedford. Fred moved to the area in 1938.
A World War II Army
Veteran, Fred served as a Corporal in the 415th Infantry from 1942 to 1945. He was a tank gunner at the Battle of Rhineland and the Central Europe Campaign.
After the war, Fred went to work at the former Kollmorgen for over 34 years. He was a 50 year member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and a lifetime member of the Northampton Elks Lodge
#997. He was an avid walker and made many friends on his walks through Child's Park.
Fred was a loving and devoted husband and father, he leaves his wife of 73 years Evelyn (Perreault) Lima; daughters Diane Jung of Bridge Road, and Bonnie Lankin of White Plains, N.Y.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. John's Episcopal Church, followed by a burial at Spring Grove Cemetery. Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton is in charge.
