Heang "Meas" Pen(1933-2012)

CHICOPEE - Heang "Meas" Pen, 79, of Kendall Street, passed away on Dec. 3, 2012.

Born May 1, 1933, in Vietnam he immigrated to the United States in 1983, first living in West Springfield, moving to Amherst in 1989 then to Chicopee in 1995.

Heang was a carpenter, barber, musician and a true jack of all trades. He was a gifted Cambodian instrument maker and musician, and is a leader in the Cambodian Community of Western Mass.

He was the beloved husband to, Mao Mak for 60 years and gave life to 13 children. Besides his wife, Heang is survived by his children, Rav, Roeung and her husband Sam, Him and his, wife Seap, Hoeut and his wife Amanda, Paulina, Heap and his wife Jenna, Lyn and her husband Vanny, Roum and his wife Sokhom and his youngest daughter Saren and her husband Von; he also leaves 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Pen family would like to give special thanks to Davy Chhoun for taking such great care of Dad.

Heang's Funeral will be Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley. A Chapel Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Springfield Cemetery prior to his cremation. Calling Hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
