JoAnn (Sady) Cavanaugh(1961 - 2013)

BELCHERTOWN - JoAnn (Sady) Cavanaugh, 51, of Canal Drive, died peacefully at home on Friday, May 3, 2013, surrounded by the love and care of her family.
Born in Springfield on Nov. 7, 1961, she was the daughter of Michael Sady of Easthampton and Barbara (Rattell) Giguere of Wilbraham. JoAnn grew up in Ludlow before moving to Belchertown in 1990, where she raised her family. Devoted to her faith, she was a member of Christ Community Church in Belchertown.
For many years, she worked in payroll administration in the health care field. Since 2003, she has worked as the director of human resources and payroll administration for the O'Connell Companies in Holyoke, where she was known for her kindness and professionalism.
JoAnn was a two-time cancer survivor who never stopped fighting and gave encouragement and hope to many others afflicted by this disease. JoAnn above all else was a devoted mother to her children and enjoyed all aspects of their busy lives, especially sports. She loved helping and gave when she saw a need.
She enjoyed volunteering for things such as the Angel Tree program, as well as buying clothes or food for the needy. She was also a major contributor in fundraising for the high school girls' soccer team.
Besides her parents, she will be deeply missed by her husband of 24 years, David B. Cavanaugh, along with her children, Brianna, Liam and Jillian, all at home.
She also leaves her siblings, Donna and Cheryl Sady of Ludlow, Michael Sady of North Andover and Stephen Sady of Wilbraham. Additionally, she leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and will also be missed by her dog, Maddie.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 8, at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning from the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. to process to Christ Community Church for a service to begin at 11 a.m.
